  •  The extension of the Cafeteria Malesherbes consists of a series of levels that unfold on the artificial ground of an inner courtyard. The project reflects an organic conception of the site, which derives its principles from the observation of both the solar exposure of the courtyard and daily walked pathways.
    Its horizontal configuration helps to spread the load of construction evenly, but first aims to bring together the areas of consumption, reception and meeting in the same central space. The cafeteria extension creates a new link between the surrounding buildings and renews the use of the courtyard by the means of four devices: The lower court acts as a continuation of the new dining hall due to its open façade. The covered passageway is both used to exit the restaurant and to access the administration. The canopy offers the existing reception hall a protective threshold and incorporates a stairway to the large upper terrace. The smaller triangular terrace replaces three existing emergency exits and links the lecture theatres to the courtyard. The larger terrace offers the best exposure to sunlight for outside activities and relaxation, on two levels, the entire ground of the courtyard.
  • L’extension de la cafétéria du Centre Universitaire Malesherbes prend la forme d’une strate bâtie qui se déplie sur le sol artificiel d’une cour intérieure. Les grands partis du projet répondent à une conception organique du site qui tire ses principes de l’ensoleillement de la cour et de ses parcours quotidiens.
    Sa configuration horizontale permet de répartir les charges de la nouvelle construction de manière homogène, mais vise surtout à rassembler les lieux de consommation, d’accueil et de rencontre dans un espace unique et central, ouvert et transparent, autour duquel s’organisent tous les accès.L’extension crée un nouveau lien entre les bâtiments qui composent sa cour et en renouvelle les usages grâce à une série de dispositifs : La cour basse se veut un prolongement de la nouvelle salle de restauration grâce à sa façade en baies coulissantes. Le passage couvert sert simultanément d’évacuation pour le restaurant et de passage vers l’administration. L’auvent fonctionne comme un seuil, qui protège l’entrée de la galerie d’accueil existante. Il intègre un escalier d’accès à la grande terrasse extérieure, qui occupe tout le niveau supérieur. Une partie de la terrasse reprend les issues de secours existantes,l’autre permet de bénéficier du meilleur ensoleillement pour des activités extérieures et de restituer ainsi, sur deux niveaux, l’ensemble du sol de la cour.
